Effective date: September 7, 2026. Operator: Mydeas, LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company.
This Privacy Policy explains what Mydeas, LLC ("Mydeas," "we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers mydeas.co, member accounts, and the weekly newsletter.
Questions: hello@mydeas.co.
1. Who we are
Mydeas is a library of small, specific ideas, operated by Mydeas, LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company. This policy is for visitors, newsletter subscribers, and people who create a member account.
2. Information we collect
You give us
- Account. Username, email address, and password (or Google sign-in, if you choose it). An optional display name.
- Profile (optional). Year of birth, ZIP code, the role you pick (for example dad or teacher), and your kids' stages. These are self-reported, never shown on the public site, and you can change or delete them anytime.
- Newsletter. An email address, if you subscribe on the site or at news.mydeas.co.
- Ideas you send. Whatever you put in an email to hello@mydeas.co.
- Account activity. Ideas you save, categories you follow, and ideas you mark as liked or tried.
We collect automatically
- Server logs (IP address, user agent, pages requested, timestamps) as part of running and securing the site.
- Session and CSRF cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms. These are strictly necessary.
- If you use Google sign-in, Google provides us the account identifiers needed to create or recognize your account.
We do not run a sitewide advertising or attribution pixel today. The Beehiiv subscribe form on the homepage is loaded from Beehiiv; that form is Beehiiv's, and Beehiiv's privacy policy applies to data you type into it.
3. How we use it
We use this information to:
- Run the Service: show you ideas, keep you signed in, save your list, and remember follows, likes, and tried-its.
- Send transactional email from us (for example, the address-verification message when you create an account).
- Send the weekly newsletter, if you subscribed. Issues come From: Mydeas at hello@mail.mydeas.co. Replies and other contact go to hello@mydeas.co.
- Improve the library โ including using likes, tried-its, and optional profile attributes to surface ideas that tend to fit families like yours. We only do that in aggregate and behind a privacy floor: a "cohort" is never a group of one or two people.
- Search the library. If you type a query on the site or the API, we may send that text to OpenAI to embed it and rank published ideas. Published idea text is also embedded. Your email and profile are not.
- Detect abuse, keep the Service up, and comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your profile answers as public copy, and we do not put your name on a like or a tried-it.
Staff use additional tools (studio, skill creator, and a staff-only MCP connection) to capture and draft ideas. Those tools are not available to members.
4. How we share it
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
- Amazon Web Services โ hosting, file storage for photos, and transactional email.
- Beehiiv โ newsletter subscription and delivery. Beehiiv is the source of truth for who is on the list.
- Google โ if you sign in with Google, or when the site loads fonts from Google Fonts.
- OpenAI โ embeddings for search (the query you type, plus published idea text) and staff-only drafting. Your email and profile do not go to OpenAI. When the OpenAI key is unset, site search uses keyword matching instead; the API search endpoints return no results.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the Service or someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of Mydeas, LLC, in which case this policy would still apply until you are told otherwise.
Published ideas, including credit we have cleared, are public. The public API returns published ideas only.
5. Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of first-party cookies so the site works: a session cookie if you sign in, and a CSRF cookie on forms. You can refuse cookies in your browser; the public pages still work, but you will not stay signed in.
Third parties we load for features they provide:
- Beehiiv, on the homepage subscribe embed and at news.mydeas.co.
- Google Fonts and, if you use it, Google sign-in.
- htmx, loaded from a public CDN, which does not set an identity cookie for us.
We have not added a Beehiiv sitewide attribution script.
6. How long we keep it
- Accounts. Until you delete the account, or we close it under the Terms of Use.
- Profile attributes, saves, likes, tried-its, follows. Until you change them or delete the account.
- Newsletter. Until you unsubscribe or we delete the list record. Unsubscribing on Beehiiv is the way off the list.
- Logs. A short operational window, unless we need a record to investigate abuse or a security incident.
- Email you send us. As long as we need it to review an idea or answer you.
Deleting your account takes your member data with it. It does not unpublished an idea that is already live, and it does not by itself remove an address from the Beehiiv list โ unsubscribe there, or email us and we will help.
7. Your choices
- Edit your profile, including optional family questions, at
/profile/. - Delete your account at
/profile/delete/. Staff accounts cannot self-delete; email us instead. - Unsubscribe from the newsletter in one click in any issue, or at news.mydeas.co.
- Ask us for a copy of what we have about you, or to correct it, at hello@mydeas.co.
If you are in a place that grants additional privacy rights, we will honor a request that the law requires. Email is the door.
8. Children
The Service is written for adults โ parents, grandparents, teachers, and other grown-ups passing ideas on. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, write to hello@mydeas.co and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and access controls so member and staff surfaces stay separate. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change. If a change is material, we will say so on this page. Continued use after the new date is acceptance of the updated policy.
