What we'll ask you for
Five things. If you can answer these out loud, the idea is ready — you don't have to write it well, that's our job.
The moment
When does this come up? Name the scene, not the category. "It's 11:30pm the night before a 6am flight and you're pulling your only deodorant out of the cabinet."
What it takes
Every item, by name. The actual product, the actual size, the actual temperature. "A good filter" isn't a tool; "20×20 MERV 13" is. Needing nothing is a fine answer too.
The steps
Seven or fewer, each one an action someone takes. If it needs more than seven, it's really two ideas and we'll split it.
How you'd know it worked
What's different afterward, in a way someone could check. "Sheets changed in thirty seconds with the lights off" beats "less stressful."
Who gets the credit
Almost none of these ideas are original — they came from a grandmother, a neighbour, a guy at work. We name the person if they've said yes, and never if they haven't.
